Hoover Fold Away vacuums

Hoover Fold Away vacuums: Hoover today is introducing the Hoover® Fold Away™ upright, a bagless cleaner with a fold-down handle that comes out of the carton fully assembled and ready to use. The Company will support the introduction with television and magazine advertising that stresses this and other advantages of Hoover’s affordable innovation.

“We’re bringing innovation, advertising and excitement into a segment of the upright market that’s hungry for it,” said David Baker, vice president of marketing. “The Hoover Fold Away vacuum shows that Hoover is committed to competing aggressively at all price points.”

The Hoover upright vacuum cleaner, which carries a suggested retail range of $99.95 to $129.95, will make its debut today at the Gourmet Products Show in San Francisco.

Baker said the Hoover Fold Away upright’s major selling points — the fold-down handle, the freedom from assembly, the lightweight design, the oversized wheels and the powerful cleaning — exemplify the Company’s philosophy of “convenient usability.”

“We’ve made this Hoover upright exceptionally easy and convenient to use,” Baker said. “Right out of the box it’s ready to go. What’s easier than that?”

The fold-down handle carries significant benefits for the consumer. When it is folded down, the cleaner can be stored in spots where uprights with fixed handles could never fit — places such as under a utility table or on shelving. For the many people who store their upright in a closet, the Hoover Fold Away upright vacuum cleaner can be stowed without tangling with garments above.

Further, the fold-down feature comes in handy when cleaning. When using the attachment tools on stairs, the handle can be folded down, thus allowing the upright to be held like a canister. This gives the user greater freedom to move. Plus, the Hoover vacuum is lightweight and easy to carry.

Hoover believes that consumers and retailers will cheer the fact that the Fold Away upright Hoover vacuum does not require any assembly.

“Easy assembly is a priority on every product we design,” said David Baker, vice president of marketing. “Still, we know that assembly trips up some people because they’ve told us. The Hoover Fold Away upright requires no assembly, so we believe we are taking away a point of frustration for consumers and a possible trigger for a return, which will please retailers.”

Fold Away upright vacuums have many other features. The dirt container, for instance, has a handle that serves a second purpose: It locks the E-Z Empty™ dirt container into place on the upright. There are no latches to turn or slide.

The upright from Hoover vacuums has a 12-amp motor, allergen filtration and a triple-stretch hose that is transparent. Four tools are attached to the body of the cleaner: a crevice wand, an extension wand, a dusting brush and an upholstery tool. It is one of the quietest uprights in the Hoover lineup.

Shipments of the Fold Away upright vacuum cleaners began in April, with full distribution anticipated by summer.

Hoover Fold Away U5162900 vacuums will be colored Brite Teal, and the other models in the line will be Patriot Blue, Lacquer Red and Black.
